Controlling the system with codes

There are three types of codes in the system, suited to different use cases and privacy needs.

Access code

The most frequently used type of code. Suited to a person who isn't necessarily registered in the app. When used, the event is delivered to the app with the name associated with the code.

Pros
  • Can be set and managed by an admin or a PRO user.
  • Can have different levels of access to groups (partitions).
  • Provides traceability — the name is shown in the event feed and notifications.
  • Requires no specific combination: enter the code, then press the arm/disarm/night mode button.
Cons
  • Users without admin rights can't manage this type of code.
For example:1234
iBest fit in most cases, where admins or PROs manage codes for the users.
To set up an access code
  1. 1Go to the hub settings.
  2. 2Select Keypad access codes.
  3. 3Set up a username and access code.
General code (keypad code)

Set up for a specific keypad by a PRO user. When used, events are delivered on behalf of the keypad, not an individual person.

Pros
  • The easiest code to set.
  • Requires no specific combination — just the code, then the arm/disarm/night mode button.
Cons
  • Only a single pair of codes is available (access and duress).
  • Can't be changed by end users.
  • Provides no traceability — it doesn't show who disarmed the system.
  • Controls only the keypad it's set for.
  • Users without admin rights can't manage it.
For example:1234
iUsed in simple setups where only one code is needed, or in combination with other code types.
To set the general code
  1. 1Go to keypad settings.
  2. 2Select Keypad code.
  3. 3Set the keypad code you want.
Personal code (user code)

Set up by a registered user directly in the Alarmly app. When used, all events are delivered on behalf of that user.

Pros
  • Each user can set their own code in the app.
  • Codes are confidential — even from admins.
  • Informative: the user's name shows in the event feed.
  • Can control multiple keypads and groups the user has access to.
Cons
  • Requires a specific combination to change the system's state.
  • Can't be managed or viewed by admins or PROs.
For example:User ID*CodeArm/Disarm/Night mode
2*1234
iUsed in cases where privacy is key and all users have access to the app.
To set a personal code in the app
  1. 1Go to your profile settings: Hub → Settings → Users → Your profile settings.
  2. 2Select Passcode settings. Your user ID is also in this menu.
  3. 3Set a User code and a Duress code.
Good to know
  • Codes can be used to control specific groups (partitions): enter the code, press *, enter the group ID, then the relevant action button.
  • Duress code: simulates normal disarming while quietly alerting the monitoring station of an emergency.
  • Code length is configurable between 4 and 6 digits.
